Pledging
Your giving opens doors, builds a community, makes music, grows families, shapes hearts and glorifies God. If you would like to make a pledge of your financial gifts to CUMC, please fill out the pledge card and return it to the Finance Office. For a chart on suggested giving amounts see the chart.

Making Contribution

You may give your pledge amount by placing your gifts in the offering plate during the worship service. You may also make your contribution directly to the finance office during business hours. Special year-end hours will be made available. Check back for these hours in December.

Memorial Gifts

If you wish to make a gift to the church in honor or memory of someone, please make out your check to Christ United Methodist Church.  In the memo section of the check, enter the name of the person to be honored or remembered.  Also, if you wish your gift to go to a special fund or purpose, please note that in the memo section of your check.

An acknowledgment will be sent to you and to the family of the person remembered.  If the person being remembered is not a member of Christ United Methodist Church, please enclose a note giving name and address to which acknowledgment is to be sent.  If your name, address and phone number is not on your check, please include that in the note. If you need additional instruction, please call the church Finance Office at 601-914-7104.

Gifts of Furniture or Fixtures
If you wish to make a donation of an item to the church, please contact Mary John Johnson at 601-914-7111. She can assist you in this process and the finance office will provide you a receipt for tax purposes.

The Foundation –

What Is The Foundation:
The Foundation provides a way for the Church to continue to support its members and friends in their time of need. The Christ United Methodist Foundation was established in 1982 to provide financial assistance and gifts in kind to members and friends of the Church who need/ or would benefit from assistance. A nine person Advisory Board administers the work of the Foundation. An Associate Pastor of CUMC serves as a non-voting ex-officio member. The members of the Advisory Board elect the president of the Advisory Board annually.

Why Should I Support The Foundation?
The CUMC Foundation is your Foundation. It’s unique to our Church and does not have access to the General Fund. It administers only those funds that have been specifically given to the Foundation. The Foundation is a spin-off of the Easter 1979 and subsequent floods of the Pearl River — times when CUMC generously responded to the needs of many of its members and friends who were adversely affected. To maintain the confidentiality needed to insure continued success of the Foundation, discussions and identification of recipients of funds or services in kind are considered highly proprietary and held in strictest confidence. A report of the financial condition of the Foundation is made annually to the Administrative Board of the Church.

How Do I Contribute To The Foundation?
There are at least eight ways contributions can be made to the Foundation. A description of each is given in this brochure. The list is certainly not all-inclusive, and the Foundation welcomes the opportunity to assist groups/individuals in working out a plan. All contributions should be designated to and checks made payable to the CUMC Foundation. An acknowledgement will be made for receipt of each contribution.

Anniversary Gifts
This Gift Program allows members/friends of CUMC to make a donation to the Foundation on an annual basis. Anniversary Gifts will be promoted and accepted during the Lenten Season as a reminder of the origins of the Foundation.

Organization Outreach Project
Specifically designed as a way for CUMC and other organizations to support the Foundation. Organizations contributing $250 or more will receive a certificate of appreciation for their gifts.

Memorial Gifts
Gifts given in memory of friends or loved ones fill an on-going need of the Foundation. An individual, group or organization can honor a friend, group member or associate posthumously with a gift. Acknowledgement will be sent to the donor as well as an appropriate notice of the gift to the surviving relatives.

Honorariums
Gifts to the Foundation provide a unique way to honor friends, loved ones, organization members, etc. on those special occasions. What special way to honor someone as a thank-you, or for service to your group, or for just being a great friend. Acknowledgement will be mailed to the donor as well as an appropriate notice of the gift to the honoree.

Bequests
Most members of CUMC are generous in their giving. How fitting it is to carry through in our Will the discipline we have practiced in life, by setting aside a portion of our estate for the work of the Foundation.

Sustaining Contributor Gifts
A person may become a Sustaining Contributor with a donation of $10. You can personally participate in perpetuating the activities of the Foundation. On the anniversary date of the gift, the Foundation will automatically send a request to renew the Sustaining Contributor status for another year.

Associate Contributor Gifts
A person may become an Associate Contributor with a donation of $25 to $99. In this way, a large number of individuals can become Associate Contributors. On the anniversary date of the gift, the Foundation will automatically send a request to renew the Associate Contributor Gift for another year.

Life Contributor Gifts
A person may become a Life Contributor with a donation of $100 or more. Life Contributors feel a special empathy for those people in need of the help the Foundation provides and know that this work is possible only by caring and sharing individuals. On the anniversary date of the gift, the Foundation will automatically send a request to renew the Life Contributor Gift for another year.
