Q: What is Confirmation?
A: The word “confirmation” means “with firm-ness”.
Confirmation is just part of the journey in your walk with God. Confirmation
is part of a faith journey with the destination being a life that increasingly
reflects a deep relationship with God.
Confirmation classes at CUMC are designed to completely wrap the sixth grade
seeker in the loving arms of the congregation through the mentorship program;
to immerse them as a peer group in the process of making a personal commitment;
and guides the parents of this age child to a position of understanding and
support. At this meaningful time of life, this age child makes a series of
decisions that can impact their life forever. With Christ as the cornerstone,
we believe that the confirmation process will indeed fulfill our goal in Children’s
Ministries: to equip each child for a continuing, service-filled journey leading
to a meaningful way of life.
This year’s Confirmation will feature a new addition: Each Confirmand
will have a mentor chosen by the Children’s Ministries. This mentor will
be one of the most influential people for the Confirmand. Our prayer is that
the Confirmand and his or her mentor will form a relationship that will last
much longer than the Confirmation period.
